What You Hear vs What They Said

What you hear, and what they said. It does make a difference.
Saw a speaker this week and he quoted something, and as soon as he said it, I could see quite a few people grabbing their phones to write down the quote.  It is interesting to see what we think we hear and what we actually write down.  The quote was from the book Catch-22.
This is what I heard, and what I wrote down, and to me it was awesome and really spoke to me:
"Just because you're not paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't after you."

Whoa! Right!  That is awesome.  Well, it's wrong. This is the actual quote.

"Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't after you."

Takes some thinking, but it is actually even better.  Both are good. I give you freedom to use either of them.
