The Challenge
A US-based sit-down restaurant with 215 locations needed a better way to protect its payment devices while improving front-of-house workflow and creating a cleaner checkout environment.
With Ingenico iPP320 terminals sitting directly on countertops, routine cleaning exposed the devices to moisture and increased the potential for damage. The terminals also occupied valuable counter space in busy restaurant environments.
The customer wanted a solution that would:
- Elevate payment devices off the countertop
- Reduce exposure during routine cleaning
- Free up valuable workspace
- Create a cleaner, more organized checkout area
- Provide a consistent setup across all locations
At the time, there was no off-the-shelf mounting solution for the Ingenico iPP320 that met these requirements.
The Solution
After the customer purchased several existing stands while searching for the right fit, DCCSupply recognized an opportunity to develop a purpose-built solution.
Working closely with the customer through prototypes, virtual meetings, direct feedback, and four design revisions, DCCSupply engineered a custom one-piece VESA mount for the Ingenico iPP320.
The design provided:
- Elevated placement away from the countertop
- A secure and stable position for the payment device
- More available workspace for employees
- A cleaner checkout environment
- A simple one-piece design for easier installation
DCCSupply also supported the nationwide deployment with full kitting, installation instructions, organized store-level shipments, and ongoing rollout support.
The Result
DCCSupply fulfilled an initial order of 3,000 custom mounts, coordinating shipments of 8 to 21 units per restaurant to simplify installation and standardize payment device placement across the organization.
The deployment helped create:
- Cleaner, less cluttered countertops
- Reduced payment device exposure during cleaning
- Improved staff workflow at the point of sale
- More secure and stable device placement
- A consistent payment setup across locations
The value of the original design continued years later when the customer transitioned from the Ingenico iPP320 to the Ingenico Lane 3000.
Rather than replacing the existing mounts, DCCSupply developed a custom conversion kit that allowed the restaurant to retain its mounting infrastructure while updating the payment devices. This helped simplify the transition and avoid the cost and disruption of replacing the entire mounting system.
