Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the PAX A920 Pro battery last?
The A920 Pro features a 5150mAh/3.7V rechargeable battery that delivers 7.5 to 9.5 hours of use between charges. Battery life depends on usage intensity—restaurants using the device for continuous tableside payments may see closer to 7.5 hours, while retail stores with intermittent transactions can expect up to 9.5 hours. The device includes sleep mode when idle to extend battery life.
What payment types does the A920 Pro accept?
The A920 Pro supports chip & PIN, magnetic stripe, contactless (NFC), and QR code payments. This includes Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). The device is PCI PTS 5.x SRED certified with a dedicated secure processor for transaction security.
Does the A920 Pro work with my payment processor?
The A920 Pro is compatible with most major payment processors including Payroc, Datacap, BridgePay, ePN, USAePAY, and SwipeSimple. DCCSupply offers terminal programming services to configure the device for your specific processor. Contact us at 847-266-1220 before ordering to confirm compatibility.
What's the difference between the 8GB and 16GB models?
The base model includes 8GB eMMC Flash and 1GB DDR4 RAM. The upgraded model offers 16GB Flash and 2GB RAM for $75 more. Choose the 16GB model if you plan to run multiple business apps simultaneously (inventory management, loyalty programs, analytics) or if your POS software requires additional memory. For basic payment processing only, the 8GB model is sufficient.
How does the barcode scanner work?
The A920 Pro includes an optional built-in professional infrared barcode scanner on the top side of the device. This scanner reads 1D and 2D barcodes including UPC codes, QR codes, and loyalty program barcodes. It's ideal for retail inventory scanning, ticket validation, and loyalty card scanning at checkout.
Can I use this terminal without Wi-Fi?
Yes. The A920 Pro supports Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth connectivity. You can accept payments even with poor or non-existent Wi-Fi by connecting to a cellular tower instead. This makes it reliable for outdoor events, food trucks, and locations with unstable internet. Note: 4G connectivity requires a SIM card (available separately through DCCSupply).
What size thermal paper does this terminal use?
The A920 Pro uses 57mm x 40mm thermal paper rolls—the same standard size used by most mobile terminals. The printer prints at 40 lines per second with a paper roll outer diameter of 40mm. DCCSupply sells compatible paper in bulk with same-day shipping.
Is the A920 Pro better than the standard A920?
The A920 Pro offers three key upgrades: a larger 5.5" screen (vs. 5"), faster quad-core 1.4 GHz processor (vs. ARM Cortex-A7), and 1.5 additional hours of battery life due to sleep mode optimization. If you need a bigger display for customer-facing apps or plan to run multiple business applications, the Pro is worth the upgrade. If you only need basic payment processing, the standard A920 may suffice.
What warranty and support come with this terminal?
All new PAX A920 Pro terminals from DCCSupply include a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering defects and malfunctions. We also offer extended warranty options up to 3 years. Technical support is available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm CST at 847-266-1220. We provide same-day shipping on in-stock terminals ordered by 2pm CT.
